Appointment of two Information Commissioners to the Information Commission


Applications are invited from persons who are qualified under Section 37 of the Access to Information Act 2018 (No.4) for appointments as Information Commissioners.

Persons to be appointed as Information Commissioners shall have wide experience and knowledge in any one or more of the following fields of services:

  • accounting
  • administration and governance
  • law
  • science and technology
  • management or
  • social science

A person having the qualification referred to above is eligible to be appointed if that person

  • is a citizen of Seychelles and resides permanently in Seychelles,
  • is of proven integrity;
  • has distinguished record of public service, or service in a profession or vocation.

A person shall not be appointed as the Information Commissioner if that person

  • holds office in, or is an employee of, a political party;
  • has been convicted and served a sentence of imprisonment for a term of six months or more for an offence involving fraud, dishonesty or moral turpitude.

The term of office, salary and allowance of the Information Commissioners are stipulated in the Access to Information (Term of office, Salary and Allowances of Chief Information Commissioner, Information Commissioners and Chief Executive Officer Regulations, 2019) (S1 27).
