Mr Frank Donald Robert Ally was sworn in as Attorney General in the presence of the President of the Republic, President Danny Faure, during a swearing-in ceremony held at State House this morning.

President Faure announced the appointment of Mr Frank Ally as Attorney General on 28 September 2017, following recommendations of the Constitutional Appointments Authority, in accordance with Article 76(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles.

During the ceremony, Mr Ally took two oaths; the Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution andthe Oath of Office respectively.

Before going to University, Mr Ally was a supply teacher at the Mont Fleuri School where he taught History and Geography. He later joined the Protocol Section at the Ministry of Planning and External Relations as a trainee officer. Mr Ally was also a part-time newsreader on SBC Radio.

Upon obtaining his Law Degree with Honours from the University of Mauritius in June 1994, he continued as a supply teacher at Anse Etoile school before obtaining his Barrister’s Certificate from the Council of Legal Education in Mauritius. Following his bar exams Mr Ally joined the Department of Legal Affairs as a State Counsel until 1999 when he was employed by the Law Chambers of Francis Chang-Sam as an Attorney-At-Law and Notary. Prior to his appointment as Attorney General, Mr Ally was heading his own law firm.

Present at State House for the swearing-in ceremony was the Vice President, Mr Vincent Mériton, the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Francis Macgregor, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mathilda Twomey, the Designated Minister, Mrs Macsuzy Mondon, the Ombudsman, Mrs Nicole Tirant-Ghérardi, the Chairman of the Constitutional Appointments Authority, Mr Michel Felix, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Nicholas Prea, Secretaries of State, family members of Mr Ally,  and other distinguished guests.
